How To Categorize Your Book

Categorizing your book is one of the largest challenges you will face when you are trying to urge your book published. Whether you place your book with an agent or publisher otherwise you publish the book yourself, to make sure its success it’s essential that you are able to properly categorize it. Whereas categorizing, you’ll find what you have written fitting into anybody of the subsequent 9 classes: trade, skilled, scholarly and university press book, college text book, elementary high college text book, juvenile book, mass market paperback, subscription reference book and spiritual book. You’ll rightly categorize your book if you are conversant with the general parameters for every category. Read on for details. Trade book: Books that are written for the general reader having fictional or non-fictional content are placed during this category. They are called trade books because their distribution is targeted through retail store sales, instead of through book clubs, mail order or premium sales. Fictional trade books embrace romantic novels, thrillers and literary novels. Trade books that are non-fictional would be bibliographies, self facilitate books, a way to or DIY books etc. In brief, anything that is sold through retail stores with a typical trade discount. Professional books: These are books that are written for members of a selected profession and would come with law books, books on skilled coaching, books of regulations, medical books, etc. Scholarly and University press books: These books are typically written by teaching faculty of educational institutions and are not geared toward members of any specific profession. They are based mostly on scholarly analysis on specialized topics. College textbooks: College books consider teaching a subject matter and not just reviewing information. They are written in refined language for advanced level students. Elementary High College textbooks: These textbooks are meant for teens and younger children who are learning a subject area for the terribly initial time. Written using a fairly easy language, they embody a heap of illustrations, graphics and examples. Juvenile books: This is one class of books that would come with everything used for light reading by kids or teens. Image books for toddlers and novels for young adults all would fit into this category. Mass market paperbacks: These are tiny paperback novels sold at book stores and discount and grocery stores as well. These are sometimes paperback versions of books that were already successful in hardcover. Subscription reference books: These are books containing sensitive reference data and need to be updated and replaced annually. One sensible example of such a book is the Physician’s Desk Reference. Spiritual books: All books on any non secular subject would be covered beneath this class and would come with books on Islamic studies, Bible studies, Judaism and alternative spiritual books. Knowing the way to categorize your book will increase the possibilities of your book’s industrial success by letting you target it to the proper audience.
Dawson’s Creek – The Complete Fifth Season
Dawson's Creek - The Complete Fifth Season
23 episodes on 4 DVDs.It's goodbye to Capeside, hello to Boston in Dawson's Creek's fifth season (a.k.a.: Dawson's Creek: The College Years). While the end of the fourth season sent the five friends their separate ways--Dawson (James Van Der Beek) to USC Film School, Joey (Katie Holmes) to Worthington College, Jen (Michelle Williams) and Jack (Kerr Smith) to Boston Bay College; and Pacey (Joshua Jackson) to the high seas--it doesn't take them long to find themselves together again. That's a good thing, especially when tragedy strikes a family member and threatens to tear the survivors apart.
More than anything, the fifth season seems to be about falling into bad relationships. Jen dates a cute but sleazy musician (Chad Michael Murray, One Tree Hill), Pacey gets a job in a restaurant where he pursues a woman (Lourdes Benedicto) already having an affair with a married man, then fends off a vampish new boss (Sherilyn Fenn, Twin Peaks). Joey is drawn to her handsome English professor (Ken Marino). And Jack joins a frat, becomes a jerk, and starts a devoted relationship with his beer bottle. Dawson meets an eccentric young filmmaker (Jordan Bridges) which in turn leads to a meeting with his favorite Boston film critic (Meredith Salenger). And Joey's new roommate, the annoyance-with-a-heart-of-gold Audrey (Busy Phillipps), becomes the newest major addition to the cast. The irritation factor is high this season, a couple of "Joey is threatened" interludes don't have the punch that they could have, and in the season finale, the inevitable resolution of the show's central relationship doesn't really resolve anything at all. But viewers who have followed the Capeside crew for four seasons will still want to see what happens in the fifth.
The fifth season is the first to have no DVD extras at all, and it continues the music-replacement strategy (which, since the second season has replaced much of the music, and since the third season has replaced Paula Cole's theme song, all due to licensing expenses). In addition to the usual background-music switches, some scenes have been edited (for example, the episode "Highway to Hell" has cut two of the performances on-stage at the Drunk & Dead). Also, the opening credits of "The Long Goodbye" and "Downtown Crossing" had originally used instrumental versions of "I Don't Want to Wait," which had underscored the emotion of those episodes. In the DVD set, those have been replaced by the standard version and an instrumental version, respectively, of "Run Like Mad." --David Horiuchi

Should You Buy College Books On The iPad?

The iPad is a one and one half pound device which allows to owner to carry hundreds of books in one small device. This feature makes it ideal for heavy college text books. Purchasing college textbooks on the iPad offers several advantages over purchasing traditional college textbooks.
The iPad offers features such as electronic highlighting of text and recording lecture notes. A search feature allows students to find important text passages quickly.
College textbook publishers are already offering electronic versions of many of their books. Electronic versions are currently more available for the Kindle, but as the iPad use becomes more widespread, it is expected that there will be more text books available for use on the later device. Many students complain that there is little price break when purchasing electronic books, but at least one website offers free downloads of any book stocked with a one time membership price. Books for classes that require the first edition may not be available on such sites.
Electronic books are certainly easier to carry across campus than are several traditional books. The paper copies can be very heavy and many students graduate with their Bachelor’s degree and a backache. The iPad can store all the books for the entire college career without ever weighing any more.
Before you decide to purchase your books in electronic form, make sure that your schools policies allow the use of electronic devices in classes. It is always a good idea to speak with the professor to see if he has any special requirements before purchasing any books. For certain classes, you may decide to purchase the hard copy of the book.
While college textbooks on the iPad have numerous advantages, there may also be a few drawbacks. At very least, the iPad makes a better way to transport your books from one building to another.
You can learn more about getting college books on the ipad here.

John Diaz Offers Insight on New Text Book to be Released in November 2010
Beverly Hills, CA; September 15, 2010 – John Diaz recently collaborated with the editors of a new textbook, scheduled for release in November of 2010. The book is titled the Encyclopedia of Body Scultping After Massive Weight Loss and is edited by Dr. Berish Strauch and Dr. Charles Herman.
John Diaz is a co-author of the chapter titled “Facial Rejuvenation: Indications and Analysis.” This chapter addresses the challenges plastic surgeons face when dealing with rejuvenating the faces of patients who have lost significant amounts of weight.
Obesity is a major health problem in the United States with nearly 30% of the U.S. population considered obese. Obesity increases the risk of hypertension, diabetes and a multitude of other diseases. As a result, treatments for obesity have become extremely widespread and popular.
Gastric bypass and laparoscopic banding are two surgeries being performed in order to help patients lose weight. These procedures result in massive weight loss and tremendous changes to the body. Some patients are left with a significant amount of loose skin after these procedures.
As a result, plastic surgery body contouring procedures are growing in popularity. The Encyclopedia of Body Sculpting After Massive Weight Loss was created to address this emerging field. The chapter John Diaz co-authored was written to discuss the effects of weight loss on the face.
John Diaz has a special interest in cosmetic surgery of the face. He performs a large number of rhinoplasties and other facial cosmetic surgery procedures in his private practice. It is for this reason he was approached to contribute to the textbook. The chapter he co-wrote is intended to educate other plastic surgeons about facial cosmetic surgery in these patients.
Facial cosmetic surgery in massive weight loss patients presents certain unique challenges. Weight gain causes increased amounts of fat deposits in the face.
When this fat is lost, it results in deflation in certain areas of the face. This can create an aged appearance that may not be improved with traditional techniques in surgery. Furthermore, many of the weight loss patients develop medical problems and metabolic disturbances which may require attention.
The chapter addresses these issues and concerns. It offers recommendations on how to diagnose these problems and provides guidance on how to manage some of these challenges. It is certain that massive weight loss surgery will continue to be a major topic among surgeons throughout the country. The goal of this chapter, and the textbook in general, is to provide a useful resource for plastic surgeons caring for these patients.

The Affordable Way To Buy Text Books

With all the expenses of a college education, text books are just another burden on top of all the other costly requirements of working towards a higher degree. This is why so many students opt for used college textbooks instead of buying them new at the campus bookstore. And although the campus bookstore may offer some used selections, they are still far from the cheapest option, which is why many students have discovered the benefits of shopping online. The Internet has opened up opportunities to sell used textbooks as well as buy them. Whether you are looking for all the books for your classes at the beginning of the semester or trying to get some cash back for the books you’re done with at the end of the semester, online sites provide an excellent option. If you sell cheap used college books, then you will definitely find this to be a profitable option. And if you buy them, it can save money that you can put into so many other important things that come along. Text books don’t have to be as expensive as they once were. With the rising costs of tuition, housing and other college-related expenses, it is necessary for students and parents to cut corners and save wherever they can. One of the best ways to do so is to buy and sell used textbooks online. You can actually buy books at the beginning of the semester, and after your semester is over you can sell the book back to the same online store and get about 75 percent of the money back. This makes books a much more nominal part of the cost of college, when it was once a huge financial burden. If you want to shop for used college textbooks over the Internet, just make sure you have the title, author and ISBN number available. This will ensure that you get the correct books every time.
As college students return to classes this school year, many have a way of avoiding buying all those textbooks. The iPad is allowing students to carry just one device, and possibly save money along the way. The AP’s Haven Daley has more. (Sept. 2)

Will Students Become Physically Weak if All Their Text Books are On an Ebook Reader?

I always had a stack of books, 5 to 7 very large text books that I carried around. Today, we can see that in the future everyone will have e-book readers as their textbooks on them, which will look like some sort of tablet or iPad looking device.
Obviously, these will be connected to the Internet, and to all the information of the world, because that’s where all the human information resides. And as you know these devices are getting smaller and lighter every single year. As carbon nano-tubes come out, surely these high-tech plastic devices will not weigh much more than a paper napkin. I’d say in about four or five years from now, at the explosive rate of innovation in this sector.
Now then, this brings me to my next comment, and it may be hilarious to contemplate, but I want you to consider this question and see what you come up; “will college students become physically weak, if they are no longer required to carry around textbooks?” Or will they have better posture because they aren’t carrying around all those textbooks with one hand? Will they have fewer back problems, and less need to go to the chiropractor?
You see, on one hand the e-book readers will be more ergonomically correct then carrying around a bunch of textbooks, although you definitely won’t get the same amount of work out from walking from the parking lot to your classes, and from class to class and then again back to the parking lot with all those books.
Part II – WithiPads, Kindles, Nocks, E-Book Readers Everyone is Looking Down; Become a Chiropractor!
Indeed, I am not sure if you have noticed or not but when you’re out and around town everyone seems to be carrying around these little devices, and walking down the sidewalk with them. And their posture isn’t that great because their heads are bent down as they’re walking looking at the device. This is going get them all needing to get a Chiropractor adjustment. You see, the new iPads, iPhones, iPods, and every other personal tech that resembles them, are not ergonomically sound for humans.
There was a recent article in the New York Times about how folks were so busy with their personal tech devices walking down the sidewalks in New York City, they kept running into other people, and stopping in the middle of the sidewalk causing problems with the pedestrian traffic flow. The article mentioned how obnoxious this was and they are right, and it’s even happened in my own city out here in California. When people are not paying attention, they tend to get in the way, as they stand in front of doorways, and are oblivious to what’s going on around them.
They also tend to bump into things, and now you know why we don’t want people to use all these personal tech devices while they are driving. It would appear to me that if you are thinking about graduating from college and getting a degree, and then going out into the business world to make money, that being a Chiropractor might be a very good idea for you, because all of these people are going to need your services. Indeed, hope you please consider all this.

Keep cash on Text Books
By: christian abad
Posted: Oct 06, 2009
One of the most expensive areas of attending college seems to be the cost of the text books these days. Since most colleges only use a particular book for a year or two it is very hard to purchase them in advance. Yet there are some good ways you can catch a break when it comes to paying for the text books you need. Almost all colleges have bulletin boards so you can place an ad for the various books you need. Hopefully individuals who have just finished the course will gladly part with the book for much less than they paid for it.
If you have text books from courses you have finished you may be able to trade what you need for what someone else needs. If you are in a particular type of program such as business or education you will likely find other students who need to take the same classes as you. Setting up a text book swap is a great way to maximize the amount of money that you do spend on text books.
It can be very frustrating to get the newest edition of a particular text book and then find out it hasn’t changed very much at all from the previous edition. Take to your instructor as they will likely have gone through the new edition and make comparisons to the old one. Most instructors are fine with you using an older edition of the same book. You can save a substantial amount of money if you are able to do so.

Another frustration can be to find out after your purchase such a text book that you won’t need it very much as the instructor mainly teaches from notes. If this is the case consider purchasing a book with a classmate and splitting the cost. This won’t work well if you will have a great deal of text book reading or assignments to complete though.
Check to see if the college library offers copies of text books rather than purchasing them. Most libraries that offer this option don’t allow the text books to be checked out but you can use them in the library as you need to. If you choose this option make sure you start on assignments as quickly as possible so that you don’t have to stress about someone else already using the book.
Some book stores offer to place used text books on consignment for students. These are often placed in the bookstore with the new books on the shelves. While they may have some wear and tear as well as highlighting they will serve the purpose of a one semester course. These consigned books generally sell fast so make sure you go to the bookstore at the very end of the semester. As students complete their finals they will take their books into the bookstore.
On the back of each textbook is an ISBN number. It is generally found above or underneath the bar code on the book. You can use this number to search for the text book on the internet. There are several places where you can purchase new and used textbooks at a price that is much less than what you will pay for it at the college campus bookstore.
