Private schools have lost their bid to stop the implementation of a new form one selection criteria that favours pupils from public primary schools in admissions to national schools. The high court threw out an application by the Kenya private schools association seeking an injunction against the implementation of the new policy, in which about three quarters of slots in the country’s 18 national schools were reserved for pupils from public primary schools. Justice Daniel Musinga said that the court could not overrule such policy, since admission letters had already been sent to the pupils and they were expected to report to school next week.
